Tropic Thunder

Here's my beef this week. My wife and I rented Tropic Thunder last week. I wanted to see this movie when it first came out into the theaters but we never got around to it. All of my friends were telling me of how funny it was so I was expecting a really funny movie. It looked like it had all the makings of a great movie. It looked like it had an excellent story, and an awesome cast. I wasn't impressed with the movie. Some parts were funny but overall I thought they were trying to be too funny and crude, which when you try to be too funny it's not funny. The language in this movie was offensive. If I wanted to I couldn't count all the F-bombs that were said in that movie. They had a great cast and talent for that movie but the characters were laking. After the movie I felt let down by the actors except for one. Robert Downey Jr. did a fantastic job and he was the funniest part of that movie. I guess that is the writers fault and not the actors. My problem going into the movie was my expectations were too high. Tropic Thunder for me was more like Tropic Blunder. That's my beef this week. Until next time.

  1. I haven't seen Tropic Thunder since it was in theaters but I loved it(I hadn't heard about it before I went so I didn't have the same expectations) but I can see you're point...There were so many really stupid or way 'over the line of funny' parts that hurt the movies progression. I also found that the movie had a lot of unnecessary scenes that were boring and convoluted.

All in all though, I think I'm going to have to disagree about the acting and (most of) the script. I think each actor did an amazing job and each character was really convincing, within their personalities persuaded to us. In fact, I think the reason the movie was so hyped was because of the well rounded acting that was presented in the movie.

Oh and by the way, Robert Downey Jr. had a top-notch performance...he was definitely my favorite in the movie :D
