Wolverine Origins
Here's my beef this week. I went to see Wolverine Origins last week. I was so excited for this movie to come out. Wolverine has been one of my favorite comic characters since I can remember. I also watched the cartoon religiously when I was little. The movie overall was good not great. I didn't live up to the hype like The Dark Knight did. They didn't follow the story of Wolverine from the comic books and made their own Hollywood version of it. Hugh Jackman did an excellent job. I couldn't picture any one else as Wolverine. The rest of the cast did an amazing job. I was excited that they had Gambit in it finally. He was only in the movie for a couple of minutes which was rather disappointing. If I were you I would wait to see it at a dollar movie. That's my beef this week and I'm sticking to it.

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
Here's my beef this week. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a Harry Potter fan. Last year I was excited to see the new Harry Potter movie. I was very disjointed that they postponed the movie till July. In fact it turned me off of seeing the movie when it comes out this July. The studio said they pushed the date back six months because they had a gap in the line of movies that were coming out this summer due to the writer strike. I think that they are full of crap. I think the real reason they postponed the movie was because they didn't want to compete with Twilight and they wanted to make more money in the summer. So because of the movie studio's greed we have to wait till July to see a movie that we should have already seen last year. That's my beef this week and I'm sticking to it.

Tropic Thunder
Here's my beef this week. My wife and I rented Tropic Thunder last week. I wanted to see this movie when it first came out into the theaters but we never got around to it. All of my friends were telling me of how funny it was so I was expecting a really funny movie. It looked like it had all the makings of a great movie. It looked like it had an excellent story, and an awesome cast. I wasn't impressed with the movie. Some parts were funny but overall I thought they were trying to be too funny and crude, which when you try to be too funny it's not funny. The language in this movie was offensive. If I wanted to I couldn't count all the F-bombs that were said in that movie. They had a great cast and talent for that movie but the characters were laking. After the movie I felt let down by the actors except for one. Robert Downey Jr. did a fantastic job and he was the funniest part of that movie. I guess that is the writers fault and not the actors. My problem going into the movie was my expectations were too high. Tropic Thunder for me was more like Tropic Blunder. That's my beef this week. Until next time.

Chick Flicks
Here's my beef this week. My wife and I recently celebrated our six month anniversary last week during spring break. We rented a couple of movies. One of the movies we rented and which we regret watching is Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey. As we were watching the movie I predicted everything that happened in the movie. I guess most chick flicks are that way. It seemed like Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan didn't have much chemistry. It also seemed like this movie was a rip off of When Harry Met Sally which actually is a good movie. I'm not afraid to admit that I like some chick flicks but to often its few and far between when you come across a good one. That's my beef this week and I'm sticking to it.

Today's Cartoons
Here's my beef this week. What is the deal with the cartoons they have on television today? The animation in the cartoons is terrible. They don't take time to draw in the background or the characters. The animation of the characters are becoming more abstract and the constant flashing of bright colors is enough to put someone into a seizure. The character's aren't as memorable and love able as they used to be and the cartoons seem to be more violent now. They aren't as clever and Witty as they used to be so that kid and adult would be entertained by watching the show. What happened to the good old days when the animation was well draw, the story line was captivating, and you didn't have to worry about going into a seizure from watching a cartoon? You would think cartoons would be better drawn today with the increase of technology. It's not. It's getting worse. I think the increase of technology has made the artist lazy. When I was growing up we had good cartoons. We had Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, and Looney Toons just to name a few. These cartoons had memorable characters, Witty dialogue and you actually learned something by watching it. Imagine that learning something from watching a cartoon! I was first introduced to classical music through Looney Toons, and I learned about intriguing parts in history by watching Duck Tales, which made me want to learn more about the actual events that took place. Something needs to be done with the cartoons today. We need to go back to the basics. I love cartoons and it's sad to see the cartoons get sloppy. I guess I'm a big kid at heart. That's my beef this week and I'm sticking to it.

The Oscars
Here's my beef this week. I was very upset that Christopher Nolan wasn't nominated for best director. The Dark Knight was the biggest Blockbuster since Titanic. Heath Ledger gave the best performance of his career which he won an Oscar for. You can't get a good performance out of an actor unless you have a good director. Christopher Nolan deserved to at least be recognized for his accomplishment, if not with an Oscar, at least with an Oscar nomination. That's my beef this week and I'm sticking to it.

The New Street Fighter Movie
Here's my beef this week. My wife and I went to go see Taken last weekend which is an excellent action movie you should check out. If you like the Bourne movies you'll like this one. Anyway, one of the previews that they showed was for Street Fighter the Legend of Chun-Li. I can't believe they are making another street fighter movie. You would think they would have learned from the last street fighter movie they made with Jean Claude Van Dam. This only goes to prove that Hollywood has no originallity left. They can't come up with any fresh ideas so they have to remake another horrible movie. Why make another street fighter movie? I could see making it if it's a popular game among kid and teens right now but it's not. If you ask any kid or teenager what street fighter is they wouldn't know. Instead of wasting millions of dollars on movies that have no originality they should spend the money on fresh films. Because people are tired of the same mundane movies. It wouldn't surprise me if in a couple of months I see a trailer for another Mortal Kombat movie.

Super Bowl Comercials
Here's my beef this week. The Superbowl is a time that I actually look forward to watching commercials. I get my food ready during the game and when there's a commercial on I run into see it. The commercial weren't up to par this Superbowl. You would think if you're going to have a commercial in the biggest game of the year you would want to make it memorable because you just spent a ton of money for 30 seconds of air time. You of course had your good commercials which were mostly the beer ads and the commercials that you forgot 2 seconds later after you saw it. I work for Overstock.com. They had a commerciall in the Superbowl with Carlos Boozer. They spent a ton of money on this commercial which is probably why we didn't get a big bonus this year. jk The commercial was boring. I was expecting something good because of the hype of the Superbowl commercials. I was let down. By my own company for heavens sake. How many people outside of Utah know Carlos Boozer? I don't think very many. Don't get me wrong, I like working for Overstock. I just think they need to change how they are marketing their company. Hopefully next year If they have another commercial in the Superbowl I won't be let down and hopefully next year the commercials will be up to par. That's my beef and I'm sticking to it.

The New Star Wars Movies
Here's my beef this week. I was watching Star Wars Episode 4 this past week and it got me thinking about the Star Wars movies they came out with recently. I am a big Star Wars fan just as the next person and I was very excited to see the new Star Wars movies beginning with The Phantom Menace. I even camped out at a movie theater over night so I could get tickets to see it opening day. I was very disappointed in all three of the movies that they came out with. They focused too much on the special effects than creating the story and having good character development. The acting and the dialog in those movies were horrible and cheesy. There was no chemistry between Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman which didn't help the movie's lack of story. The special effects in the newer movies were more advanced than the special effects in the older ones even though the older movies were to take place after the newer ones. I think they should have filmed it like they did the older movies and use special effects only when you have to. I also think that George Lucas should have stopped directing after The Phantom Menace and let someone that's a better director direct the remaining two.You might think that's mean of me to say. All I have to say to you is "remember Jar Jar Binks. Need I say more" I love the old series of Star Wars because the story is well written, and the characters are well developed and the special effects help tell the story not be the story. It will remain in my top favorite movies of all time. I will not buy the newer Star Wars Trilogy and If I'm looking for some crappy movies to watch I'll borrow them from my brother.

The crappy pirate show in Las Vegas
So here's my beef. My wife and I went to Las Vegas last week. While we were there we wanted to see the pirate show that they have at the Treasure Island Casino. I'd seen the show years before and heard that they'd changed it. My wife hadn't seen it before and I was excited for her to experience it. The one I remember had a fight between pirates and the British, and there was cannon fire with explosions and people falling in the water, eventually resulting in the pirate ship sinking the british ship. I was expecting an exciting show similar to that. We walked from the Excalibar Casino to the Treasure Island Casino (practically the whole length of the strip)which took about an hour. Then I saw the lamest show ever. It had a ship full of scantily clad women who were "sirens" and then a pirate ship shows up and they start shooting off their canons at the siren ship because the sirens had kidnapped one of their men, trying to lure more men aboard. The sirens get mad and how they get back at them is they do a sexy dance (which was actually pretty lame) which then somehow results in the pirate ship sinking. What is that all about? Then the pirates swim over to the siren ship and start dancing with the women. After I saw this I was very disappointed. It was definitely not worth the walk. I thought to myself "Why did they have to change it?" It was a really good show before, with an actual story to go with it. I guess Las Vegas is trying to not be family friendly anymore so they're going for sex appeal. This is not necessary. Hundreds of visitors are attracted to the volcano at the Mirage and the Bellagio fountains, neither of which are sexually oriented. People liked the Treasure Island show the way it was before. I think this new show is going to turn more people away from the casino because it's ridiculous in comparison to the cool pirate show that they used to perform. No one would want to go back to see such a lame performance.
